Recorded on a cold morning in Melbourne at The Grove by Nick Herrera in late August 2025, Standing Circle captures the self-titled ensemble exactly as they are: ever-changing, ever-evolving. Led by Larry Crestani (guitar, kraartar, vocals), the group weaves spiritual jazz, funk and Afro groove into compositions written with intent, but never played the same way twice.

South African drummer and percussionist Gontse Makhene brings congas to "Liftoff" and "Talking Trees," while guest vocalists Sello Molefi, Corry Harper and Jag Yien Thiang thread a soulful layer through "The Run Up" and "Chant for Now." Together, they give the record a depth rarely heard in Australian jazz.
